Quickstart

Goal: save and reuse your first memory in about five minutes.

PowerMemory works two ways — natively through MCP (Claude, ChatGPT, Grok) or through the Chrome extension (Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity). Pick the path that matches your AI tool. The flow is the same: connect → save → inject → continue.

Before you start

Step 1 — Create your account

Sign up at powermemory.ai. Your encrypted vault is created automatically. See Account + Vault Setup for details.

Step 2 — Connect your AI

Choose your path:

  • Claude, ChatGPT, or Grok → connect via MCP. Follow MCP Connectors. You'll paste the endpoint https://powermemory.ai/mcp/mcp and sign in once.
  • Gemini, Copilot, or Perplexity → install the Chrome Extension and connect your vault from the toolbar.

Step 3 — Save your first memory

Save something worth keeping — a decision, a constraint, a preference.

  • MCP tools: your AI can write memories directly through the connected tools, with your review.
  • Extension: highlight text and save it, or press Ctrl+Shift+Y to capture the last AI message. Priority and category are auto-detected.

Not sure what's worth saving? See Memory Categories.

Step 4 — Inject memory into a new chat

Start a fresh conversation and bring your context back.

  • MCP tools: your AI reads relevant memories through the connected tools.
  • Extension: open the side panel and inject a memory, a selection, or a whole category with ⚡ ALL.

The context drops into your chat — you stay in control of what's sent.

Step 5 — Continue across sessions

This is where PowerMemory earns its name. With the extension's V POWER protocol:

  1. POWER START — begin a session with your calibration + last handover.
  2. Work, and POWER SAVE memories as you go.
  3. POWER STOP — close the session and build a handover.
  4. Next POWER START resumes exactly where you left off.

Full walkthrough in the Extension Guide.

What's next

The one-line version

Connect your AI → save the context that matters → inject it into any new chat → never start from zero again.
